Everest Base Camp Trekking- 16 Days


Everest Base Camp trek offers you to experience the adventure of trekking of the Himalayas.  With the altitude ranging from 1500 m to about 4000 m, our itineraries are designed in such a way that the trekkers will feel easy to trek in this region.  Anyone with good health and physical condition can participate in this trek.  Throughout this entire trek, Everest region welcAomes you with its majestic view of different mountain ranges.  

Beautiful views of mountains and green pastures will accompany you throughout the trek.  You will enter through Sagarmatha National Park which is the UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Khumbu region.  If lucky, you might even see very rare species of wild animals like snow leopard, red panda, musk deer, etc.

Trekking to base camp you will encounter many Sherpa communities (famous for mountaineering) and many Buddhist Monasteries containing some incredible relics.

There are different flora and faunas you will see while trekking in this region.This trek will also help you to come close with the Sherpa culture and ritual.

Most of the people here are Buddhist and you will see many monasteries, prayer wheels, colorful flags, chortens on the way while trekking. You will get a chance to experience the lifestyle of the local community in this region.

Day via day Itinerary:

Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal, you will be welcomed by our staff and you will be transferred to hotel in Kathmandu.  After checking in a hotel, you will rest for the day.

In the leisure time, you can go for short sightseeing or you can relax at the hotel.  In the evening, we will organize a welcome dinner with Nepali cuisine at hotel in Kathmandu.  Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 02:
Visit in Kathmandu:

Today, we will do some local sightseeing in places like Basantapur Durbar Square, Baudhanath stupa, Swyambhu stupa, Pashupatinath, etc.  In the evening time, you will be introduced to a trek guide who will do a brief discussion about the trip.  You can ask any questions regarding this trip.

Day 03:
Fly to Lukla (2800m), camp in Phakding (2640 m)

In the morning, we will pack our bags and drive to Tribhuvan International Airport to catch our flight to Lukla.  It will take about 35 minutes to reach Lukla from Kathmandu.  During this flight, you will be mesmerized by the scenic beauty of different mountain range.  After about 35 minutes, we will reach Lukla.  After landing, baggage for the porter will be divided.  In the meantime, you can walk around the airport and take some good look around there.

After packing our bags, we will start our trek to reach Phakding.  The trail is uphill and downhill, it is easy to walk.  While walking, you can enjoy the beautiful view.  On the way, you will see prayer wheel.  After about 4 hours of walk, we will reach Phakding.  We can enjoy the leisure time roaming around the village.  Overnight stay at Phakding.

Day 04:
Phakding to Namche Bazar (3440 m)

Today, we will start our trek along the bank of Dudh Koshi River.  We can enjoy the natural view of hills while trekking.  After few hours of trekking, we will cross a suspension bridge over it and after a hike to a small uphill, we will reach a small village, Monjo.

This village is a gateway to Sagarmatha National Park.  After finishing short formalities of the national park, we continue our trek further downhill to reach.

Jorsalle village.  We will take rest for some time here.  After few minutes of rest, we again continue to trek to reach Namche Bazar.  On the way, you will see different mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kusum Khangaru, etc.  After about 5-6 hours of uphill as well as downhill walk, we finally reach our today’s destination, Namche Bazar.  Overnight stay at lodge here at Namche.

Day 05:
Rest day and acclimatization:

Today will be rest day here at Namche Bazar, but we will not stay idle.  Acclimatization is very important while doing these kind of high-altitude trekking.  We can do some short hiking nearby to Khongde and Khumjung village and do some local sightseeing at the museum nearby.  

You can also interact with the local people here in Namche and know about the local culture and lifestyle.  If it is Saturday, there will be local weekly market.  You can enjoy rest of the day here enjoying local market.  Namche is main market for the local people.  In Namche, there are internet cafes, bakery, banks, ATMs, monasteries, and museum.  Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 06: Namche to Tengboche (3867 m):

Today’s trek is both uphill as well as downhill. Trail continues through the forest and along the side of Dudh Koshi river. Following the path, we reach Kyanjuma. While trekking, we can see green vegetations and beautiful mountains like Mt. Everest, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, Nuptse, etc. We can see the view of these mountains through today’s trek. Following the trail through the forest, after 5 to 6 hours of walk, we now reach Tengboche. There is a big monastery here in Tengboche. There are numbers of tea houses, lodges, guest houses to choose from. We stay in one of the lodges. In leisure time, we will do some sightseeing around Tengboche. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 07: Tengboche to Pheriche (4243 m):

Today’s trail follows through forest. We will descend down through this trail. While trekking, we will cross Imja Khola. After crossing this river, we will trek uphill to reach a small village Pangboche in about 2 to 3 hours. From this village, we can get good view of Ama Dablam. There are few houses, monasteries, and prayer wheels with few people.

We can also see pine trees in distance. We will take a short break here before continuing our trek. Enjoying the view of the nature, after about 3 hours of walk from Pangboche, we now reach to Pheriche. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 08: Pheriche to Lobuche (4930 m):

We continue our trek today to reach Lobuche. We can get good view of Twache and Cholatse as well as Khumbu glacier while trekking. Today’s trail is uphill and will be difficult to trek on. We will walk through grasslands and pasture enjoying the beauty of nature. After few hours of trek, we reach Duglha where we can take a break for some time.

Trail from Duglha is zig-zag, we walk through this trail. Walking on rocky and dusty trail, we reach Lobuche. We will stay here overnight. In leisure time, we can take a short walk in this village. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 09: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5288 m):

Today’s trek will offer a good view of the snow-capped mountains. Accompanied by the good view of these mountains, we will trek up to the one of the best viewpoint of Everest region, Kala Patthar. With the altitude of 5554 m, Kala Patthar offers a good view of the region and its surrounding. After spending few time enjoying the view of area, we then return back to our lodge at Gorakshep, a small village. We will do short preparation for Everest Base Camp trek the next day. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 10: Gorakshep to visit Everest Base Camp (5400 m) to back Lobuche:

With the mixture of excitement and anxiety , we start our trek early in the morning to reach Everest Base Camp. Trail pass through Khumbu Glacier. Throughout today’s trek, we will see different mountain ranges like Everest, Lhotse, etc. Due to high altitude, one must be very careful during walk. After few hours of walk, we finally reach our destination, Everest Base Camp. We can see different colored tents of other tourists who are on the way to expedition. Although you are in the Everest Base Camp, you cannot actually see Mt. Everest from this base camp, but we can enjoy the view for some time. After spending some time there, we will return back to Lobuche. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 11: Lobuche to Pangboche (3985 m):

Today’s trail is mostly downhill, so it will be quite easy to trek today. One can enjoy the beauty while trekking. After few hours of walk, we reach Dughla where we can take short break from walk. After few minutes of break, we further continue our trek to reach Pheriche. There is Himalayan Rescue Association here in Pheriche.

You can visit here for the information about the high-altitude sickness and its prevention and you can get other information about this area and its surrounding. After that, we continue our trek to reach Pangboche. We will cross a small wooden bridge over Khumbu Khola to reach Pangboche. Upon reaching here, we will stay in one of the lodge. Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 12: Pangboche to Namche Bazar:

Today we will trek mostly downhill. Today’s trail follows through forest of rhododendron. While trekking, we will get good view of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Nuptse, etc. Walking downhill and crossing suspension bridge over Dudh Koshi we reach Namche after about 5-6 hours of walk. One the way, we will see water powered prayer wheels, colorful prayer flags, and chortens.

Day 13: Namche Bazar to Lukla:

Today, will be the last day of trek. Walking is easy as we drop down the altitude and the weather is quite warm and sunny. We will walk through pine forest and cross suspension bridge over a river to reach Monju. After completing some formalities in the entrance of the national park, we continue our trek to reach Phakding. Taking break for some time in Phakding, we continue to walk to reach Lukla. Overnight stay here at Lukla.

Day 14: Flight: Lukla to Kathmandu:

With all the memories of the entire trip, we will take early morning flight to reach Kathmandu. Upon arrival here, our representative will take you to the hotels and rest for some time. You can rest for the rest of the day or do some local sightseeing around the city, or you can do sightseeing the next day. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 15: Visit in Kathmandu:

Today, you can go sightseeing for the whole day. You can go for sightseeing in some historic places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, inner cities in the town, religious places like Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Baudhanath, etc. You can do some shopping for your friends and families back home. Return back to hotel in the evening. We can share our experience about the Everest trekking with our friends.

Day 16: Depart:
Today is the final day here in Nepal. You can still do some last minute shopping if you have spare time. Then you will be taken to the airport 3 hours before your flight. Hope to see you soon again.
