Gokyo Valley Trek (15 days)

This Gokyo Valley Trek will offer you a grand view of the Everest and its surrounding.  This trekking is one of the famous trek in this region.  You can get a good view of sunrise up from Gokyo Ri striking in the sparkling turquoise water in the Gokyo lake.

You will trek five lakes in the Gokyo valley.  You will also get a chance to get close with the culture and lifestyle of the local Sherpa people.

Most of the people here are Buddhist and you will see many monasteries, prayer wheels, colorful flags, chortens on the way while trekking.

Day via day Itinerary:

Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu 

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Nepal, you will be welcomed by our staff and you will be transferred to hotel in Kathmandu.  After checking in a hotel, you will rest for the day.  In the leisure time, you can go for short sightseeing or you can relax at the hotel.  In the evening, we will organize a welcome dinner with Nepali cuisine at hotel in Kathmandu.  Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 02:
Visit in Kathmandu:

Today, we will do some local sightseeing in places like Basantapur Durbar Square, Baudhanath stupa, Swyambhu stupa, Pashupatinath, etc.  In the evening time, you will be introduced to a trek guide who will do a brief discussion about the trip.  You can ask any questions regarding this trip.

Day 03:
Fly to Lukla (2800m), camp in Phakding (2640 m)

In the morning, we will pack our bags and drive to Tribhuvan International Airport to catch our flight to Lukla.  It will take about 35 minutes to reach Lukla from Kathmandu.  During this flight, you will be mesmerized by the scenic beauty of different mountain range.  After about 35 minutes, we will reach Lukla.  After landing, baggage for the porter will be divided.  In the meantime, you can walk around the airport and take some good look around there.

After packing our bags, we will start our trek to reach Phakding.  The trail is uphill and downhill, it is easy to walk.  While walking, you can enjoy the beautiful view.  On the way, you will see prayer wheel.  After about 4 hours of walk, we will reach Phakding.  We can enjoy the leisure time roaming around the village.  Overnight stay at Phakding.

Day 04:

Phakding to Namche Bazar (3440 m)

Today, we will start our trek along the bank of Dudh Koshi River.  We can enjoy the natural view of hills while trekking.  After few hours of trekking, we will cross a suspension bridge over it and after a hike to a small uphill, we will reach a small village, Monjo.

This village is a gateway to Sagarmatha National Park.  After finishing short formalities of the national park, we continue our trek further downhill to reach.

Jorsalle village.  We will take rest for some time here.  After few minutes of rest, we again continue to trek to reach Namche Bazar.  On the way, you will see different mountains like Mt. Everest, Mt. Kusum Khangaru, etc.  After about 5-6 hours of uphill as well as downhill walk, we finally reach our today’s destination, Namche Bazar.  Overnight stay at lodge here at Namche.

Day 05:
Rest day and acclimatization:

Today will be rest day here at Namche Bazar, but we will not stay idle.  Acclimatization is very important while doing these kind of high-altitude trekking.  We can do some short hiking nearby to Khongde and Khumjung village and do some local sightseeing at the museum nearby.  

You can also interact with the local people here in Namche and know about the local culture and lifestyle.  If it is Saturday, there will be local weekly market.  You can enjoy rest of the day here enjoying local market.  Namche is main market for the local people.  In Namche, there are internet cafes, bakery, banks, ATMs, monasteries, and museum.  Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 06:
Namche to Phorste Village (3600 m):

We will continue our today’s trek with the good view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, etc. Trails are both uphill as well as downhill. While trekking, we can see different animals and birds like deer, Thar, pheasant, etc. This trail continues to reach up to Kyangjuma. This trail then joins up to Sansa village. After descending down to reach the bank of Dushkoshi river, we then cross a suspension bridge over this river. Further walking uphill through rhododendron forest, we now reach Phortse Village. We will spend our night here at this village.

Day 07:
Phortse Village to Machhermo (4410 m):

Continuing our trek through the rhododendron forest and crossing suspension bridge and waterfall, we reach Dole. There are few teahouses where you can take rest for a while. After a quick break, we further walk uphill from Lhabarma. From this trail, you will get a panoramic view of mountain range. Continuing the trail, we now reach Luza. Downhill from Luza, we will see a deep canyon which is Dudh Koshi Valley. And walking through the trail, we now reach to Macchermo. This is the last resting place before reaching Gokyo. After resting for some time, we can go for sightseeing nearby and can also visit Himalayan Rescue Hospital where you can get information about the high-altitude sickness and its prevention.

Day 08:
Machhermo to Gokyo (4950 m):

Today’s trek will offer a beautiful view of different mountain ranges as well as valley. We can see chortens as well as prayer wheels on the way. This trail pass through Pangka. Further continuing our trek uphill, we now reach Ngozamba Glacier. After passing this glacier, we cross an iron bridge which leads us to reach First Lake, Longpongo. After roaming around the First Lake, we then continue to trek to reach Second Lake, Taboche Tsho. You will be fascinated by the beauty of this lake. We further continue to trek up to the Third Lake. After passing the Third Lake, we now reach Gokyo Village which is next to Gokyo lake. With the excellent view of Cho-Oyu mountain at the back, Gokyo is good place to take a break for the day.

Day 09:
Gokyo Valley: Climb Gokyo Ri (5357 m) and hike to Five lakes:

Today is the rest day here at Gokyo, but we will go for a short hike up to the Five Lake. We can also hike up to Gokyo Ri if the weather is good. It is the good viewpoint of Everest Region. You can get a good view of Cho-Oyu, Everest, Gyachung Kang, Nuptse, Lhotse, and Makulu. We will further continue to trek to reach up to Cho-Oyu base camp and Nagzumpa glacier, which is the largest glacier. After visiting these area, we then return back to Gokyo.

Day 10:
Gokyo to Dole:

Today’s trail is easy as it is mostly downhill trail. We will follow the same route that we have trekked while reaching up to Gokyo. We will cross a small bridge over a stream to reach Phangka. Along the trail, there are chortens and prayers wheels. We will see beautiful view of Thamserku, Cho-Oyu, and Kangtega while trekking. Further continuing the trail, we reach Macchermo and then to Dole. We will spend our night here at Dole.

Day 11:
Dole to Namche:

Today’s trail is also downhill, so it is a easy walk today. Trail goes through forest of rhododendron and other plants. We might also see animals like deer, goat, etc. On the way, we will also see some waterfall. Also, we will see the beautiful mountains like Thamserku, Kangtega, Ama Dablam, etc. Enjoying this view, we will reach Namche Bazar. This will be our resting day for today.

Today, will be the last day of trek. Walking is easy as we drop down the altitude and the weather is quite warm and sunny. We will walk through pine forest and cross suspension bridge over a river to reach Monju. After completing some formalities in the entrance of the national park, we continue our trek to reach Phakding. Taking break for some time in Phakding, we continue to walk to reach Lukla. Overnight stay here at Lukla.

Day 12: Flight:
Lukla to Kathmandu:

With all the memories of the entire trip, we will take early morning flight to reach Kathmandu. Upon arrival here, our representative will take you to the hotels and rest for some time. You can rest for the rest of the day or do some local sightseeing around the city, or you can do sightseeing the next day. Overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 13:
Visit in Kathmandu:

Today, you can go sightseeing for the whole day. You can go for sightseeing in some historic places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, inner cities in the town, religious places like Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Baudhanath, etc. You can do some shopping for your friends and families back home. Return back to hotel in the evening. We can share our experience about the Everest trekking with our friends.

Day 14:
Visit in Kathmandu:

Today, you can go sightseeing for the whole day. You can go for sightseeing in some historic places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, inner cities in the town, religious places like Swyambhunath, Pashupatinath, Baudhanath, etc. You can do some shopping for your friends and families back home. Return back to hotel in the evening. We can share our experience about the Everest trekking with our friends.

Day 15:

Today is the final day here in Nepal. You can still do some last minute shopping if you have spare time. Then you will be taken to the airport 3 hours before your flight. Hope to see you soon again.
