Langtang-Gosaikunda-Helambu Trek (17 days)

Close to the Kathmandu Valley, Langtang Valley trek is moderate to trek.  Few hours of drive will take you to the beautiful Langtang valley.  Sharing border with Tibet, culture and lifestyle is almost similar to Tibet.

You will get a chance to be close with the lifestyle and culture of the local people.

Agriculture, tourism, and trade is the main occupation of the people living in this region.  More people are in tourism business here.

You will be able to see the beauty of the nature in this valley.  You will come close to the majestic mountains like Langtang, Lirung, etc.


They own and operate guest houses which provide service to the tourists who visit this region.  They also provide you potter service.   You will see many waterfalls while trekking in this region.

You will trek through forests of rhododendron, bamboo, pine, etc.  You will also be able to see different animals and birds like musk deer, yak, rare red panda, pheasant, etc.



Day via day Itinerary:

Day 01:
Arrival day in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at the Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be hearty welcomed by our staffs.  After completion of airport duties (visas, documents, etc.), you will proceed towards the arrival gate and look for our representatives.  After that, you will be escorted to Shankar Hotel.

After checking in, you can take rest for few hours and go out for sightseeing with our guide or representatives.  We will organize a typical Nepali welcome dinner at the evening along with Nepali traditional dance and music.

Day 02:
Kathmandu – Trek preparation.  

After finishing breakfast, we start our day with sightseeing some local historical and cultural attractions near Kathmandu including durbar square and temples like Pashupatinath, Baudha, and Swyambhu (monkey temple).  At afternoon, we will meet our tour guide, team leader, and other members of our trip and discuss about the trek where you can ask any questions regarding this trek.

Day 03:  Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (Drive) (1550 m):

We will drive towards the north to reach Syabrubesi.  During our ride, we can enjoy beautiful views of the green hills, Trisuli river, waterfall, and mountains at far.  In about 6 hours of drive, we reach Syabrubesi.  It is a small bazar where there are lodges and hotels to stay in.  Overnight stay at lodge.

Day 04:  Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2380 m):

Today is our first day of trekking.  We start to trek from Syabrubesi.  We will cross a suspension bridge over the Langtang river and trek through small Tamang settlement.  We will walk through forest, cross several suspension bridges, and we will pass several tea houses before reaching Lama Hotel.  Trail is not so hard to walk.  It is an easy trail though it is uphill and downhill.  After six hours of walking, we reach Lama Hotel.  Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Day 05:  Lama Hotel to Langtang Valley (3430 m):

This second day trail continues through the dense forest.  Trail is both uphill and downhill; little difficult to walk.  We will cross small streams and rivers through suspension bridge.  We will see chortens and prayer wheels on the way.  With short break in one of the tea houses on the way, we will reach Langtang valley in about 6 hours.  There are many hotels, houses, and lodges here to stay.  Culture and lifestyle is mostly influenced with Tibetan culture.  You will also see yak pastures before reaching Langtang valley.  Overnight stay at guest house.

Day 06:  Langtang Valley to Kyanjin Gompa (3870 m):

Today will be short walk for just 3 to 4 hours to reach Kyanjin Gompa.  Due to the high altitude and thin air, one might feel quite difficult to breath and adjust to the climate.  So, we must be careful while trekking here.  With the beautiful view of mountain in the backdrop, we continue our trek through the green lands and mani wall, prayer wheels, and colorful prayer flags to reach Kyanjin Gompa.  This gompa is surrounded by the mountains from all side.  We can go sightseeing around the valley.  There is a monastery, glaciers, and pastures in this valley.  Overnight stay at Kyanjin Gompa.

Day 07:  Kyanjin Gompa Rest Day:

Today, we will explore the valley.  We will do short hike up to Kyanjin Ri or Tserko Ri.  You will get a good view up from here of the valley and other surrounding mountains and glaciers.  We can also go for sightseeing around the Kyanjin Gompa, cheese factory, and around the valley.  Overnight stay at valley.

Day 08:  Kyanjin Gompa to Lama Hotel (2470 m):

Today, we will trek back to Langtang Valley, then to Lama Hotel.  We will cross river through suspension bridge.  We will walk through forest and mani walls, colorful prayer flags.  After 6 hours of walk, we reach Lama Hotel.  Overnight stay at Lama Hotel.

Day 09:  Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru (2230 m):

Trail follows through the jungle of juniper and pine trees.  We have to cross rivers via suspension bridge to reach Thulo Syabru.  Trail is both uphill and downhill, but easy to walk.  We can enjoy beautiful view of mountains while walking.  After 6 hours of walk, we will reach Thulo Syabru.  There are guesthouse and lodge in Thulo Syabru.  Overnight stay at Thulo Syabru.

Day 10:  Thulo Syabru to Shin Gomba (3330 m):

Today’s trail will take us to Dimsa village.  Trail is broad enough to walk on.  Trail continues to forest of rhododendron and oak.  We will see beautiful view of mountains while walking.  Walking uphill as well as downhill, in about 5 hours, we reach Shin Gomba.  This village is famous for cheese.  Overnight stay at Shin Gomba.

Day 11:  Shin Gomba to Gosainkunda (4460 m):

Trail follows through the forest of rhododendron.  There is a chance to spot a red panda between Shin Gomba and Lauri Binayak.  This is a sanctuary of red panda.  Walking few hours, you will trek a wide path to reach Gosainkunda – a holy pond.  Many visitors visit this pond every year to purify them self.  We will do some sightseeing around the lake.  Overnight stay at Gosainkunda.

Day 12:  Gosainkunda to Gopte (3440 m):

Today’s trail is little difficult to walk.  Most of today’s trek is uphill.  We will pass through several small ponds and trail cross through Laurebina La.  Trail pass through rocky trail, through rhododendron forest.  After 7 hours of walk, you will reach Gopte.  Overnight stay at Gopte.

Day 13:  Gopte to Melamchi Gaon (2560 m):

We will walk through forest area today.  We will cross Thare Pati village.  We walk through rhododendron forest.  With walking uphill and downhill, we will pass through village area.  We will again descend towards Melamchi river and after crossing this river, we we again climb uphill to reach Melamchi Gaon.  Overnight stay at Melamchi Gaon.

Day 14:  Melamchi Gaon to Tarke Ghyang (2590 m): 

You are now in Helembu region.  There are traditional villages where you will see Tibetan culture and many monasteries.  You will trek up to reach Tarke Ghyang.  Trail follows through forest and green lands.  You will see traditional stone houses close to each other.  After few hours of walk, you will reach Tarke Ghyang.  Overnight stay at Tarke Ghyang.

Day 15:  Tarke Ghyang to Sermathang (2610 m):

Searmathang is a small but beautiful village in this Helembu region.  Trail follows through Gangyul, a small Sherpa village.  People of this region follows Buddhism.  You will see Buddhist culture and lifestyle throughout this trek.  Trail further pass through forest.  In about 5 hours, you will reach Sermathang.  Overnight stay at Sermathang.

Day 16:  Sermathang to Melamchi Pul Bazar to Kathmandu:

Melamchi Pul Bazar is a small downhill walk from Sermathang.  We will see people of Sherpa community doing their daily activities while walking.  In about 3 hours, you will reach Melamchi Pul Bazar.  We will take a break for few minutes there and then we will take a bus to reach Kathmandu.  Overnight stay at Kathmandu.

Day 17:  Final Day:

Final departure:  Today will be your last day here in Nepal.  You can still do some last moment shopping or local sightseeing if there is any leisure time left.  And approximately 3 hours before scheduled flight, our representative will escort you to the airport.
